Our Whale Experience

This picture didn't format correctly, but wanted everybody to see how close the whale was to us. On a fishing trip with Brian and Katy( Bro's lady) went fishing and out of no where this huge whale came up and played at the boat for over 15 minutes. Nothing has been documented of a whale hanging out with a boat for this long. The whale swam under and next to us and never bumped the boat. It almost took out a row of poles as it left with it's huge peck fin. If this doens't sound odd, but making eye contact with a whale is something else. Anyways, Brian caught this on a DVD camara and when he sends it to me, I will post on Youtube for you all to see.

Yah, yah. I know some might call me a bum, or a house wife, or even a baggage holder, but I like to think I too have a job. As you all know my goal was to come to Maui and get on a fishing boat...dream come true. My second week here I met a commercial fisherman who goes out once a week to catch ahi( tuna) mahi mahi and marlin. We fish about 30-40 miles off the coast, and avarage 800-1200 lbs a day. This tuna is about 45-50 lbs( worth about $225). While I don't get paid with cash, I get paid in fish. Man, my life is sweet. Mandy and I eat fresh tuna and mahi about 3 times a week. (Sorry Melissa, I know you love tuna). Oh ya, my other "job" I got 6 weeks left before I'm done with my masters. I can't wait.

We have been blessed to meet a bunch of fellow travel nurses. Here is Mandy, Katie and Ashley. These two gals are from Iowa. This picture is from the Hana highway, in the rainforest. It's amazing! We also have met other great friends not in the picture. Amber from New York, Leslie and Scott( baggage holder like me) and not to forget about Dr. Sean. My surfing instructor from FL. He travels just like a nurse, but as a doctor....we try to have him pay for things because he's rich, but he's the cheapest person in all of the islands. Sorry bud..but it's true

A DREAM COME TRUE

Hi everyone! We made it to Hawaii!!! Yipppeeeee!!! Brandon and I have been living it up here in MAUI! (Jealous?) As you can see it is amazing! We hit the beach almost everyday, and have been doing a ton of snorkeling, body boarding, and just catching some rays!! We are having a great time but we miss all of you!!!!

Boy oh boy what a good fisherman my husband is!!!! He pulled that baby in from the Rouge River in Oregon. I think he misses it there! :-)

ANDI COMES TO OREGON

OK OK, I know I haven't been very good at this lately but better late then never. Here is a picture of when Andi came to Oregon. This is on the Oregon coast. We also went crabbing and had a BLAST!!!

Charter Fishing in Brookings, OR

We did a half-day fishing trip off the coast in Brookings, OR. Caught lots of rock fish, sea bass, and this huge lin cod. The boat only caught two of these beast, and I got one!!!
This one weighted 15-18 pounds.

We have so much fish in the freezer, we need visitors to share it with!!

New Friend

This is our friend who was trying to rob our crab nets, along with about a million sea gulls! The sea gulls gave Brandon a nice little surprise as they flew over our heads. We were in Brookings, Oregon.

Brandon's mom came to visit us for a few days! She was our first visitor and we had a blast. This is a picture of the Natural Bridge on the way to Crater Lake.

Tokeete Falls

This is where we camped! From Medford to this campsite, it took about 1.5 hours, and we probably passed a dozen waterfalls. It's amazing!! If you look close it has three waterfalls inside, and it comes from a cave.

We decided to go waterfall hunting

We woke up yesterday and decided to go waterfall hunting and camping. So we got into the car and drove. We saw a bunch of amazing waterfalls. Here is a picture of Barr Falls, it also had a great lake and cool campground.

Crab Fishing

Mandy and I sat on the boat dock, drank beer and crab fished. Life is good!!! We rented the nets and bait, and caught over 150 crab. But because of restrictions, we only could eat just one. We could only keep 2 kinds, but only males. We still ate the sucka!!

Coos Bay

We went to Coos Bay for a few days of camping. Coos Bay is located in the middle of Oregon on the coast. Mandy and I hiked around the coast line and had a blast. Saw a ton of wildlife( seals, eagles).

The Oregon coast is something else. The ocean is clear, and the rocks are huge. We hiked through the tide pools in Sunset Bay, when the tide was low. Pretty cool to see all the sea life!

Fish Hatchery

We took a day trip up the Rogue river to visit the fish hatchery. This is a picture of Mandy and I feeding some huge rainbow trout. Some of the fish were up to 10 pounds. If it wasn't for the fencing, you would have seen some different pictures. HAHA

NOW this picture has a great story!! Mandy caught this fish in the Snake river. The river that feeds Jaskson Lake, in the Tetons National Park. After taking the hook out of its guts, and took this picture, the fish didn't make it. As she pulled this in, I noticed a huge bald eagly swoop into the tree just next to us. So since we killed this fish, we fiqured send this fish down the river, and maybe the eagle will come and grab it. Well with in seconds the eagle swooped out of the tree and grabbed the fish. The proceeded to sit on the shore right next to us, and eat his lunch. Pretty cool!!! Check out some of the eagle pics

We are beginning our adventure and we just wanted you all to be a part of it! As you probably already know I have taken a traveling nursing position in Medford, OR. We plan to do traveling nursing while Brandon gets his masters degree all in a year! These are the pictures and the story of events! Enjoy because we sure are!
